Knowsley Hall Wedding Photographer
Knowsley Hall is one of my favourite Cheshire wedding venues. It’s a truly luxurious place to get married, and so photogenic. For a wedding photographer, it really is a dream venue.
A grand stately home, Knowsley Hall is set in over 2,500 acres of historic parkland. As it’s a country wedding venue, there is so much scope to capture the most amazing shots against a stunning natural backdrop, and all in private surroundings, so no disturbances from random passers-by.
What I really love about Knowsley Hall is that it is a private wedding venue, which is hired exclusively to single wedding parties.
There are 17 lovely bedrooms for the wedding party and their close guests to stay; a breathtaking ballroom for the wedding ceremony, and a separate and very grand room for the wedding breakfast.
I have shot a number of full day weddings at Knowsley Hall.
I will spend the entire day there, from capturing the informal moments as the bride and her entourage prepare for the ceremony, and as the groom and his men ready themselves in another of the bedrooms, through to the ceremony, drinks reception and later the wedding breakfast, right through to the first dance, cutting of the cake and fireworks.
About Knowsley Hall – The Wedding Photographer’s Dream Venue
Knowsley Hall may be the ultimate North West countryside wedding venue, but it is still very well located, with close links to Liverpool and Manchester.
The beauty of this venue lies in its versatility. Whether you’re plumping for an intimate wedding, or have a larger celebration in mind, Knowsley Hall will cater to your every need.
The venue is suitable for up to 132 guests, and provides dedicated events managers to help brides and grooms plan their perfect day.
All-inclusive packages are offered as well as bespoke programmes, and the number of weddings held at the stately home each year is limited to ensure the most memorable experience.
At Knowsley Hall, you’ll also find a chill out spa. From manicures and pedicures to massages and hot stone treatments, there is a lot to love. The team will even design your own unique bridal package to help you relax as you prepare for your big day.
Knowsley Hall Wedding Photography through the Seasons
Another reason I adore Knowsley Hall as a wedding photographer is that it lends itself to every season.
Summer weddings offer the chance to indulge in drinks and canapés outside, which for me is a great opportunity to capture some candid shots of the guests as they mingle and chat.
Autumn weddings at Knowsley Hall command the most striking auburn colour palette, which gives a touch of warmth to the wedding photos and really makes those beautiful white wedding dresses stand out.
I’ve seen winter weddings becoming a lot more popular. Whilst it can be a touch chilly, you can get some unbelievably blue skies, and if it snows, the entire landscape transforms into a winter wonderland.
Spring weddings are all about the blossom and those vibrant, brand new fresh greens. The mood is always one of excitement as the frosts of winter are shelved for another year, so always lots of smiles and jolly photos for the wedding album.
Knowsley Hall Weddings – From Morning to Night
The bedrooms at Knowsley Hall are truly beautiful and so well equipped. Each is themed and has been individually designed by the resident Countess of Derby.
From the French room with its country chic furniture and fireplace, to the classically styled Shakespeare room and the grand Ambassadors and South Tower bedrooms with their plush and very charming furnishings, and of course not forgetting the Deluxe Honeymoon Suite, there is a lot here to admire.
For me as a wedding photographer at Knowsley Hall, each room is a pleasure to have as a backdrop to the bride’s informal preparation shots.
Wedding ceremonies at Knowsley Hall take place in the Stucco Ballroom.
The ballroom was created in the 18th century, and makes the perfect place to exchange vows. With capacity up to 132 guests, it is quite sizeable, but for me it is the gold encrusted detailing to the panelled walls and ceiling and the original fireplace that are its redeeming features. Until of course the bride makes her entrance!
There is a terrace just off the ballroom where you can hold a drinks and canapés reception during the warmer months. This is another beautiful spot for wedding photos at Knowsley Hall, overlooking the perfectly manicured gardens, fountain and lake.
The rooms within the house also offer amazing backdrops, and in the cooler months you can choose to hold your drinks reception in the Walnut Drawing Room overlooking the gardens and lake.
The wedding breakfast
The State Dining Room at Knowsley Hall is the venue for your first meal together as a married couple. And it’s another wedding photographer’s dream.
This classically styled room is very imposing, with its dark wood panelled 50-foot high ceiling, its spectacular chandelier, roaring fires and intriguing family portraits adorning the walls.
This is wedding dining on a grand scale and really does make for such outstanding shots. I love getting in amongst the guests from young to not so young, capturing the variety of emotions and expressions as the entire experience unfolds.
For the evening celebrations, it’s back into the Stucco Ballroom, where a dancefloor appears as if by magic, ready for your first dance ahead of the cutting of the cake.
Grounds and interior features
For any wedding photographer, Knowsley Hall provides the most amazing setting. Whether it’s the imposing entrance hall, the grand staircase or one of the striking marble fireplaces throughout the house, or the jaw-dropping and very extensive gardens and lake, we’ll have our work cut out when we first meet deciding on which of the many features will become your must-have wedding album backdrop.

Bride & Groom Feedback
My favourite part of shooting Claire and Alan’s wedding at the Titanic Hotel was the opportunity to incorporate some iconic Liverpool landmarks into the newly weds’ album.
