Cheshire Wedding Photography at the Magical Peckforton Castle
After getting engaged at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool city centre, Jessica and Ryan set down a few must-haves for their wedding day. One was for all to enjoy the day, and for everyone to finally get together and celebrate after all the restrictions of the pandemic. Another was to choose the perfect venue. Jessica explains.
Why did you choose Peckforton Castle as your wedding venue?
We’d seen the castle on Instagram. But we’d never actually been there. When we made a visit, we instantly knew Peckforton Castle was perfect for us. It was the first venue we visited, and the only one we visited. Without hesitation, we made our booking.
How did you personalise your wedding so it was unique to you as a couple?
We personalised our wedding with a neon sign saying, ‘forever and always’. We also had wedding favours made especially for the day, really cute heart shoe biscuits bearing our initials and wedding date. We also made our own table plan and welcome sign for our guests.
What’s the story behind your choice of wedding dress?
It was actually quite a challenge to find the right dress. There were so many that looked perfect on the rail, but just didn’t do it for me when I tried them on.
Finally, I came across a picture of a dress I liked on Instagram. I’d never seen anyone wearing it before, and thought it was worth a try. So I called a local wedding dress shop, and they kindly ordered it for me from Enzoani to try on. As soon as I did, I instantly fell in love with it. This was THE dress for me!
How did the ceremony at Peckforton Castle go?
It was lovely. We were both so nervous. Everyone knows we’re not the sort of people who like all the attention being focused on us, so it was really daunting for us both. But it all went so well, and we wish we could do it again.
What about the wedding reception at Peckforton Castle?
It was so nice to finally be able to relax and enjoy ourselves after all the preparations and hard work leading up to our wedding day. Ryan was still really nervous about his speech, to the point where I could see his hand shaking as he held his notes. But he did so well, and once it was over, it was time to really start to enjoy the celebrations.
My dad didn’t write a speech at all before the day, so I was really nervous about what he was going to say. But he managed to get everyone laughing, and pulled some tears too.
What was your first dance like?
I’ll be perfectly honest, we were both dreading the first dance and the thought of everyone staring at us. There was nothing formal planned at all, but we did just fine and it wasn’t nearly as awkward as we’d imagined.
Where did you go for your honeymoon?
There’s somewhere the two of us had always wanted to go, and that was Santorini in Greece. We are so glad that we booked it as we absolutely loved every minute of it. It was so amazing to enjoy our first holiday as husband and wife after all the stress of planning the wedding, especially as there was never a single point when we were totally sure the wedding would go ahead due to the pandemic.
It was the perfect end to the perfect wedding. In the end, there were no restrictions at all, and we were able to enjoy the best day with all our family and friends, followed by a superb honeymoon that we will remember forever.
What made you choose Hervé Gillet as your Cheshire wedding photographer for Peckforton Castle?
Hervé was my sister’s wedding photographer in 2019. I was so impressed with her wedding photos that I knew there was no one else I wanted to capture our special day. Ryan and I are so pleased we chose Hervé, we couldn’t be happier with our pictures.
