I am thrilled to announce that I have received the prestigious Wedisson Award as part of a monthly contest celebrating the best in international wedding photography.
Awarding ‘hard-working, exclusive and truly experienced professionals for their creativity and ability to tell a powerful story in a single image’, I am extremely flattered to be recognised by a jury of experts in the field of wedding photojournalism whom I myself have turned to for inspiration.
DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
The particular image that won me the award was taken in Abbeywood Forest. Although I make some creative decisions, such as image composition, I strive to make the photos as natural as possible.
After the wedding breakfast I suggested the couple take a walk, in the hopes of capturing the gorgeous sunset.
Natural, real moments are key to me as a documentary wedding photographer, so at this point I encouraged the newlyweds to interact as they normally would, stealing a few moments to reflect whilst making the most of the sunset as the background. As a documentary wedding photographer, it is my duty to document the day as it naturally unfolds, capturing the emotion, fun and laughter of the day.
NATURAL – REAL MOMENT
Thank you to Wedisson for giving me this much-coveted award; I am delighted to have my work recognized by a body I hold in such high regard.
But most of all, I wish to thank all of couples who allow me to be a part of their special day. Without you, I would not be able to make my passion for photography a reality. And don’t forget – if you’re planning YOUR big day, get in touch if you would like to hire an award winning Liverpool wedding photographer!
